The following information is provide to help better inform Republican voters for the Primary election.  We do not endorse one Republican over another.

Jaha Cummings is running for Commissioner District 2

From His Statement:

After many conversations with residents and long and careful consideration, I have concluded that to be of most service to the people of Punta Gorda and Charlotte County,  it would be in the role of County Commissioner.

In serving on the City Council for the last six years, I have come to realize what the root problems of issues affecting the quality of life our residents and the environment are, and to address these challenges it requires action from the county level. I see great opportunity in improving the lives of the people of the Charlotte County through solving these problems. I

The issues we need to address  include the lack  of attainable housing for our workforce, seniors, and veterans; workforce development; lack of senior services; impact of inflation on residents; the need to create career opportunities for our young people; protecting the water quality of the bay; protecting the historic  identity of the entire county; protecting historic structures, neighborhoods, houses of worship, and cemeteries; cultivating the full potential of our children; creating the conditions in which our workforce can thrive; the need for creating intergenerational connection between our children and our elders; creating the conditions in which all of our veterans feel loved and respected; creating a prosperous community.

In addition to his role on the Punta Gorda City Council, Jaha has served on the Florida League of Cities, the Southwest Regional Planning Council, as Vice Chair of the county Tourism Development Council, and serves on  numerous governmental and non-profit boards and is a member of Leadership Florida. He is currently employed as a Manager with Coldwell Banker Sunstar and principal of ARI Production.  He is also an adjunct faculty member with the Renaissance Academy.
